FICKO was born by the sea. Not in a gallery. Not in a studio. But in the corner of a salty room in Biarritz, with a view of the ocean, two empty coffee cups, and a chaotic pile of spray cans and fabric. He wasn’t planned. He happened. Scribbled. Sprayed. One crooked heart-shaped head. A messy line. A splash of color where no one asked for it. He tried to paint. He missed. And ended up spraying himself in the face. That was FICKO. Clumsy. Raw. Free.
FICKO travelled in a tote bag.
Folded between notebooks, half-dried color palettes, and the lingering smell of ocean spray and irony.
He didn’t know where he was going.
Neither did you.
But he came with you to Münster.
Quiet at first.
Tucked away.
Waiting.
And then came the B-Side. You showed up unprepared. You presented something else. You didn’t say what you were supposed to. You said what you felt. And somehow - FICKO made his way to the wall. Not because he was perfect. But because he was honest. Because he was you - and not pretending. The B-Side saw him. That was the moment. The moment a messy little spray-painted outsider became more than just a sketch. He became a voice. A spark. A character people connected with.
What started with doubt
grew into a show.
FICKO stood proud.
Still crooked.
Still bold.
Still covered in paint.
But now —
he was seen.
People smiled.
Some laughed.
Some cried.
FICKO had arrived.
And he wasn’t going anywhere.
Now he's more than one. There’s RED. There’s PINK. There’s BLUE. There’s HEART. There’s SURF. There’s SKATE. There’s YOU. Because FICKO isn’t just a character. He’s a rebellion. A reminder. A mirror. But for now… he’s going back home. Back to the ocean. Back to the salt. Back to Biarritz. The place where FICKO was born — the place we now call home -is where the next chapter begins. And now, it’s time to write our own story.
Inspired by urban culture, pop art, and the raw energy of self-expression, these pieces are for those who refuse to be defined by society’s expectations. FICKO is not just a character. REBEL 4 OCEAN is a global movement that uses rebellious art and NFTs to inspire action against ocean pollution and marine life destruction.
To create a global movement through art and rebellion to protect oceans and marine life. An evolving concept aiming for impact through decentralized contributions and community initiatives.
Rebel4Ocean harnesses disruptive art and NFTs to spotlight marine threats. Partnerships with NGOs are forming to further ocean protection, always with transparency. This evolving concept invites everyone to join in shaping its future.
As a surfer, witnessing the ocean at risk sparked the creation of Rebel 4 Ocean. Still in development, this movement blends art and activism to drive action against ocean destruction. Through collaboration, creativity, and open discussions, Rebel 4 Ocean is a dynamic partnership aiming for real change. One of my paintings captures the rebellious spirit of this evolving concept, with more in the works.
